I'm 15 and i have recently been becoming quite chubby.

i think it is because i like snacking, when ever i'm bored then i will just go into the kitchen and have a biscuit or a slice of cake or some toast or something, i have tried givin this up but i can't help it i have these erges to just eat and can't fight them, i've tried just having fruit but we don't normaly have much fruit in the house and the cakes and crisps just appear more appetising.

i've also tried to work it off but i will start on a tredmill or something an just stop because i can't be bothered.

At the moment i just have a little extra fat around my stomach and legs but i'm scared if i don't get rid of it now it will become out of control and it will just get harder to be fit and healthy again.

What can i do to to get some will power or what exorcises can i try which might be easy or even fun.

Please help before i become an obese whale!!

I had three stone to loss about 3.5 years ago. I thought it would never go. I got some dancing music, really good disco stuff, put it on and dance for half an hour solid, start off with ten minutes then build it up. My son's dog was staying at ours, so i walked the legs off that. Then i did one day of detox a week, check out with the doctor that you are fit enough to do these things first! Then i go a sit up machine, only cost about £9.99 from Argos. Put the music up and start off by doing 20. I got it up to 200 per day! The weight took some time, but it went, usually about one pound per week. Doesn't sound much but i lost 3 stones, my skin, hair etc looked great. It stayed off as well because i never eat rubbish, only the best stuff.

Take care and you will get there, keep in touch if you want.

xx

maxsteel86 agony auntYou need an exercise that's not only gonna get you to lose the weight but is also fun and relaxing. Running on a treadmill has nothing on running outside, its a totally different experience and one that is much more likely to keep you motivated to do it. I used to run on a treadmill when I was younger (and gym membership was free:-P). Used to do it for like 15 mins at a regular speed 12.1 kph and boy did that get boring. I started to dread going there! Then I decided to just do it in the open and I haven't stopped since (that was years ago). Pick a nice running route and go at a speed that makes u feel like you're doing well. You'll feel much better when you do well and that will motivate you to continue as well. Believe me when I say, run outdoors. Its so much better and nicer and definitely works best on fat burning. I do a lot of exercises and eat like an animal whenever I feel like. Its totally worth it (except in the summer where it feels sticky and uncomfortable after the run...)

Why don't you try a whole range of sport and see which you like best. Examples are:-

-swimming

-trampolining

-roller skating

-ice skating

-netball

-hockey

These are just a few of many sports that are enjoyable, make you lose weight and keep you healthy. The main thing is that they stop you from being bored.

Take a picture of yourself standing in a bikini and put it on your refrigerator door, then put a picture of something that you would really like to buy but is expensive on the fridge door, too....start saving money to buy it and when you have lost some weight and can afford it, but it, or buy a new outfit to reward yourself.

You are an emotional eater, when ever you are bored or anxious, instead of getting up and doing an activity, you snack. Remove all biscuits, toasts, and sugary snacks out of your cupbord, and replace them with crunchy carrots, nuts, celery, apples, oranges, or what ever fruits you like. You can eat as many veggies as you want to, and a handful of nuts will get rid of your cravings.

As far as excercise is concerned, do you like riding a bike? This is a one two punch, you get both cardio excercise which burns fat as well as strengthens your heart and lungs and increases your metablolism, but it also builds a few muscles in your legs and your core body, back and abdominals...and it is fun and you can ask someone to join you. Try swimming or jogging, tennis, or raquet ball, what do you think would be fun?

Keep track of the calories eaten daily, a food diary will keep you honest....consult with your doctor on your daily caloric needs and stick to that....and you will be learning to have a life time of healthy eating and excercise.
