I'm just wondering: how many of you have been heartbroken by an ex, and he/she asked to have you back?

I want to consider the odds.

Thanks!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (15 September 2009):

The trust is gone once you have been hurt and its only human nature to constantly have doubts about the person doing it again to you. Why should it be different and how can you trust the person who broke your heart?

A reader, anonymous, writes (15 September 2009):

I think a lot of people have experienced this!

Yes, I have had my heart broken. He was the first guy I ever loved. We split up due to various problems, and he constantly asked me to try again. I did, many times, and each time it fell apart again very quickly, due to the same issues. I eventually realised that things wouldn't change between us, and ignored his messages. I haven't heard from him now for about a year. It is well and truly over, in my eyes.

I think a relationship can work again, but only if both people involved are willing to work on the reasons which split them up in the first place. Otherwise, the same problems will crop up and destroy things again.

In my own case, I kept trying to find a solution to our problems, but he was reluctant to talk about things, and to consider a different viewpoint. He wanted to ignore the problems, close his eyes and pretend everything was fine. But you can only do that for so long. It didn't work because the problems were never dealt with.

So that's my answer! Hope something helps! x
