He wants space what is that supposed to mean

A female age 30-35, *ustwondering writes:

Me and my boyfriend have been together for a year now and at first things were fine we lived together and he always wanted me around. But now he says he needs like a week of space and doesnt want to be around me as much but he doesnt want to break up. I love him and he loves me but I cant play these mind games anymore. Does he really just need space or is he just over me? I have never been in this situation so its hard for me to decide.
