He wants a colostomy bag. He said it'd be his "man bag" and that it was trendy!

I'm 24, my husband's 28, and last week he said to me he wanted a colostomy bag. He said it'd be his "man bag" and that it was trendy. I took it with a pinch of salt.

However, he always does make an effort to look good, and is always very nice to everyone as well.

I find his suggestion weird, I tried telling him what a colostomy bag was, but he said I was being silly - he said a colostomy bag is just a posh name for a "man bag".

What should I do now?? He's being particularly insistent about it!

As for what a "man bag" is, well, it's a male handbag, basically, worn by the "metrosexual" community.

My husband has become very "metrosexual" recently.

In response to your questions, well, it's both: he wants an actual colostomy bag, and thinks it's some kind of posh-branded European "man bag".

That's why he wants one... I don't think he understands what it is, no matter what I tell him.

What should I do now??

I'm really confused here. Does he want an actual colostomy bag, or does he just think it is an actual bag that you put your things in?

TELLULAH agony auntGet him a new brain to go with his bag?

I am sure that anyone that really has to wear one of these bags, could explain to him that its not out of choice.

A reader, anonymous, writes (18 February 2008):

Heya, maybe this is a stupid question, but what is a Man Bag supposed to mean?

A colostomy is a surgical procedure to bypas the rectum and anus so that faeces (poop) can leave the body through the abdominal wall.

Does your husband really want a bag so that hos poo comes out his tummy?

Im sorry, but this seems like a really really odd thing to want, and I dont think it would be possible to persuade a doctor to perform this surgery without a medical reason.

Are you sure you or he doesnt have this confused with something else, an enema maybe? (that is where they wash your colon and rectum, where the poo comes out)

If you could clarify a littl more, then maybe I could help, but Im really confused!!

Thanks!
