He sent me flowers on Valentine's day. Is it too much to think this means something? Is he interested?

I met this guy on a dating website almost a year now. We're talking as friends, nothing serious. He sent me flowers on Valentine's Day although we live in two different continents. Does this mean anything? I really like him, but I'm just worried to be disappointed! Maybe he's just trying to be nice and no romance involved??!!!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (21 February 2011):

Whereas the flowers do indicate he is interested, it frankly means little until you meet, and spend much time together. This is a high risk, and if you are afraid of disappointment, you should not be doing this. The sad reality is that it probably will not work out, if you have not spent time together. But, for most of us, it is worth the risk, in spite of knowing that it is probably going to be disappointing. Unless you risk, you are not living. There is no life without risk.

dirtball agony auntNo, flowers on valentines day mean he's definitely interested. It's a romantic holiday, if he wanted to send flowers where no romance was involved, he could choose just about any other day of the year. You met on a DATING website. He's interested in dating.

Still, that would mean an LDR, and that's a whole nother problem all together.
