A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

i've fallen hard for someone who lives on the opposite side of the country and it's highly unlikely i'll be able to see him again for at least another three years (until i graduate university). we email constantly and chat online and i got to see him for a week during winter break (by some miracle my parents chose his city for vacation).

i know there are discounted plane tickets but we simply can't afford it. i really don't know how to deal with my feelings as this is the first time i've felt such emotions for anyone. in the past i've always been the type to keep my feelings at bay until a guy and i became "just friends" and there'd be no chance of a relationship. i tried with this one but couldn't do it. i don't know what to do or how to deal with this, please help.

beanie0216 agony auntIf you are serious about the relationship, and you want to be with him, there is a possibility of you guys being together. Its takes a lot of trust. My friend has been in a long distance relationship for 4 years now, and they are still together. It will be hard, but it gets a little easier as time goes on. Think hard about it, becasue across the country is a little different than a couple states away. Think about it, and make the right decision for you.
