 I dont think he actually wants to be in this relationship if am honest, a clear sign of this is when he is not taking you out locally, i dont think he is gay but he could be using going out with his friends as an excuse to meet other woman.
You cant live your life like this, tell him that you want to be recognised more as his girlfriend tell him you would like him to take you to the local pub or else to a local resturant if he refuses there there is something definately wrong with him and i would be packing my bags.
