Have you dealt with a probable alcoholic taking anti-depressants?

A female United States age , anonymous writes:

Would you consider 6-7 pints of Guinness a day a sign of alcoholism (sometimes more, sometimes less)? In Europe, is that normal, or is a sign of a heavy drinker no matter where you go? Also, this person is taking anti-depressants. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with someone in their lives who is clearly abusing alcohol and taking anti-depressants? Have you found that the person is unreliable, untrustworthy, runs to the pub to solve their problems instead of talking them out? The relationship with this person is over, but I still think of him and wish I could stop missing the good stuff we had. I am in the process of putting it behind me, but I still question the crazy-making behavior, and am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Boonridge McPhalify agony auntanti depressants do have an effect with alcohol- SSRI's definately make the alcohol high a lot more rewarding and pleasurable and make it easier to ignore the bad side effects and dull the bad mood of a hangover (as the bad effects are barely noticable). The combination is certainly highly addictive. Having taken citalopram myself with large amounts of alcohol, it has a more ecstacy/opiate feel to it and is dreamy but can send you very nuts.

This combination makes peoples pupils massive (decieving your instincts by) making them seem cute, honest, "loved up" and attractive which they are not.

leave your memories behind as this train will continue to crash until it derails in a sloppy selfserving mess, and i wouldn't want to stay around to pick up the pieces of that splat!

hlskitten agony auntHi

Oh yes. My ex used to drink everyday. He owes a lot of people money and yes, i think people that 'need' to drink, do it for that reason. where i dont think yours or my exes drinking constitutes an alcoholic as such, it is an alcohol dependancy still.

Anti depressants wont work if people drink anyway, so any meds are being undone and pointless taking them anyway.

As i just said in another thread, my ex still owes me thousands which i am going through small claims to get back, you're better off staying well away from your ex, before anything like that happens to you. I would be thrilled to turn the clock back and of got out of that relationship not being 4 grand down! You're luckier than you know. Quit while you're ahead!

Stay safe!

C xxxxx
