Going to the local café feels awkward now because I like one of the waiters!

A female Ireland age 36-40, *ula writes:

I am a client at one of the towns famous cafes, and whenever I have time I go there with a friend for a coffee whenever I happen to be in that part of town, I know the owner, in fact I am good friends with him.

Recently, one of the waiters chatted me up and I quite like him, but then again I felt a bit exposed since I know the owner and I don't want to show that I like him. My friend, who lives very close to that cafe has her breakfast there almost every day and he's asked her about me on several occasions...like if I am single and a lot of other specific questions.

Were he another waiter, I would've been upset, but trouble is I like what I've seen of him so far...but there's this problem, I can't just go and have me coffee there any more, I feel I can't do it any more because he might be there and that'd be too obvious.

It's been a week and I haven't stepped in there although my friend, which I believe have been trying to set me up for some time now, has insisted we meet there given she lives in the same building...and we are quite good friends of the owner. She's also given me info about him without me asking. I am interested, but don't want to be seen as too keen. How do I go on doing this without me sounding coming off as desperate. Help please thanks in advance X

So_Very_Confused agony auntexcuse me but you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO overthinking this.

you know the owner and are friends with the owner.

you go there regularly with friends (clearly you do)

why in the world would your liking him cause you to change what you already do?

just go and live your life and if it involves stopping in at your friend's cafe a couple of times a week, so be it.

clearly you are interested and he's asked... there are mutal friends... I don't see why this is such a big deal

go in have coffee meet your friends... and if he's there... smile and be pleasant...
