I've got to meet my boyfriends parents!

I've never been introduced to a boyfriends parents before, or felt the need to introduce them to mine. Im a bit nervous. Any advice?

I would like to take some flowers for his mum, as she is cooking dinner for us, and I normally take flowers to my friends who cook for me but do you think this is a bit too keen?

A male reader, anonymous, writes (4 October 2006):

Its a good move. But, if his mother has any kind of gardening inclination, its better to bring a plant.

It shows respect, but also indicated that you are practical and domestic. And watch your make up.

ariel agony auntI think its an excellent idea.It just shows appreciation. You could also take after dinner mints if you like.Just be yourself and enjoy the evening.I remember When I met my husbands parents,I was so nervous, she had cooked a roast with roast potatoes, peas ect and my peas went flying across the table. My husband who always piled his plate with food, only dished a small portion that night. To this day they still have a good chuckle.xxx

chellxx agony auntI think that flowers for his mum is a lovely idea and that she would really like it.

It is perfectly natrual to feel nervous when meeting anyones parents for the first time just try to relax and be yourself and everything should be fine, try to also remember they are possibly just as nervous as you are and also want to make a good impression

Just relax and enjoy yourself

Take care
