Who agony aunt"i threw a party for his birthday the 18 of this month and he gave me earrings with a matching necklace....so what does it mean, the necklace and earrings?"

I guess it means he appreciates throwing the the party and was saying thank you.

In general, however, 17-18 year old boys do not know what they want, and do things without knowing why. If you are still friends in 2 years you can ask your self why he does things, but right now there is no answer.
