A female Ireland age 30-35, *rishGal writes:

I have a problem with my best friend. I think she is developing a serious weight problem and i dont no what to do to help her. She never eats and is constanly making remarks about her weight. I already had a friend who became anorexic and went to therapy and i am recognizing all the same signs with her. I really dont no what to do to help her.

Christinaa agony auntYou should talk to her. see if anythings been bothering her lately, compliment her on little stuff to make her feel good about herself but dont lie compliment her in the qualities you think are her best. It could help her feel better about herself.a lot of people who are dealing with anorexia have a different image of themselves than others, So if she was to lose an insane amount of weight all at once, although people around her would notice, in her mind she looks the same so she keeps starving herself. If you dont see any changes you should get some help or sit with her and her parents and discuss it.

i hope that helped good luck

You're a very caring friend, which I admire. But I fear you are already on a losing battle here. A person can only get therapy and help if they understand they have a problem. Some never come to terms with the fact that they have a problem. Most do, but always in their own time. Remain a good friend, be beside her. But don't fight her battle for her. She will need to understand that she has a problem herself before anyone can help her.
