A female India age 36-40, anonymous writes:

On 4th march I had my period. But this month it had been 9th of april but still I didn't get period. Am I pregnant ? How can I be sure ? There are some test strips available in market. Are they good to be believed ? Well they give right result ? I haven't told to my husband. I want to check it myself, cause if I went to doctor and test is negative my husband will be sad. That's why I don't want to tell him unless I'm sure. Please help me.

I did the same with both my pregnancies. I took a test at home then told my boyfriend the test results. We went to the doctor together. The strips will work fine. If they give a negative result, but you still dont get your period, than test again or see a doctor.

Goodluck!

EbonyBlossom agony auntThe pregnancy tests in supermarkets are normally very reliable, although the surest way is to see a nurse. You could take two different brands of test, however it doesn't normally show up on the test for two weeks so you could wait another week before taking the test.

I'm assuming this child was planned and you were havung unprotected sex. If so then it's very likely you're pregnant. It's probably either that or stress that's making your period late. But I hope it's a baby =]

BlueBag agony auntHome pregnancy tests are very accurate if you follow the instructions correctly. They are as accurate as the tests used by health professionals. However, if you don't follow the instructions properly, or take the test too early, the result may not be reliable.

As you seem to have gone past the date your period was due, take one now. If it is negative, wait a few days and then take another. If its positive then go and see your doctor so you can be absolutely sure.

Good luck :)
