 First you should try to give him oral just so you get a little comfortable. On a 69 I and my wife find it easier if she is on top as to I have a pole sticking out and she does not. So I would not want to smother her if I were on top. Also it's easier for you to take control of his AKA (Ship) and drive it the way you want. It's still going to be harder than you think it's something that take practice but gets easier over time. I hope this has helped...

1st things 1st... talk to him tell him u dont really no what your doing. if he really loves u he will be cool bout it and you might find he dont really know much bout what tto do either.
2ndly maybe dont do it one on top one under try both lyin on your side.
3rdly he will be too busy concentratin on tryin to please you to be worrying bout wot ur doin to him.
Most guys wont do their "stuff" from oral anyways so dont worry bout that either. hope that maybe helps u a bit.
