You may be friends but saying "So I've met this new guy - he so much better than you - I'm SO HAPPY!!!" may still hurt you.
She is trying to spare your feelings.
This new thing may not go anywhere so she is not going to risk hurting you just because she is going on a couple of dates.

reader, anonymous, writes (17 August 2008): Maybe she just feels uncomfortable talking to you about her dating life. After all before this guy you were the last guy she was with, and she probably didn't want to make you jealous or hurt you, even though you are just friends now.
Did you ask her if she'd started dating again? Maybe she didn't want to talk about it because you hadn't asked.
