 It could be that his family are taking him away in order for an arranged marriage to happen (does he have family in Pakistan or India or anywhere like that?).
The text suggests that he has only just found out that he is leaving and he just wanted to say goodbye to you. That is really all I can think of unless one of his parents has a job in another country and the whole family are leaving now during the middle of the school holidays.

 Unless there is a little thing going on between you, I don't think this means anything, just that he wanted to tell you he was going away.

He chose to tell you because you are special to him on some level. Don't read into it more than that.
