Does milk make your skin break out?

Question - (12 February 2009) 5 Answers - (Newest, 13 February 2009)
A female Denmark age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hi there, okay so I've started drinking milk for a change in my daily diet, before I didn't drink milk that often. The thing is my skin started breaking out on my back and chest, and I haven't had skin problems for years so this is something I notice.

I've heard that drinking milk will easily make your skin break out because of the fat in it, is this true?

And if so, will my body just get used to it over time (how long would this take appr.?), or is there something I can do to stop it, at least slightly?

Thanks in advance!

Honeypie agony auntMost people with lactose intolerance gets diarrhea with intake of milk.

You can be tested for it and it's an easy test to have done. However I don't think the outbreaks you are having have anything to do with your milk consumption. You might want to have a panel of allergy tests done, not just for milk.

It could be hormonal as well. Next time you have an outbreak like that see your doctor. He will be able to help WAY better then anyone on a website that can't see the condition of your skin and who aren't doctors :)

Not always.

I doubt it's the fat. Your body NEEDS fat. If it didn't we wouldn't be able to go days without eating if we had to as long as we have a good source of water.

We wouldn't be able to swim because we;d have no fat cells to keep us warm in the water and our core temp regulated in cold water.

Like all things... have too much fat and your body will not be very happy with you and begin not being able to do the things it normally does.

Too liitle and you run the same risks.

But you may be lactose intolerant, and so get to the Doctor to confirm or deny. It may just have been an allergic reaction to an ingrdient used in that particular brand of milk.

Thanks for the answers, they are much appreciated!

I've never experienced any problems with milk products, and wouldn't there be more/other symptoms if it was lactose intolenrance?

lovelynightmare agony auntIt may be a kind of lactose intolerance, but I have had large portions of milk (beats soda any day) all my life and have never experienced anything that went wrong with my body because of it.

Except for brief brain freezes lol.

Hey! You are probably lactose intolerant. Your body can handle some milk, but you don't have enough enzymes in your body to break milk down. You shold have an allergy test done.
