I read to much in to it and it turned out that he was being friendly and didnt fancy me! I was gutted! I think you should spend more time with him, dont rush things and maybe hint a little bit!  I would say that he does like you.
If you were just a friend then I think it highly unlikely that he would use you as a personal message.
And the movie thing? If it was just the two of you then I think it's safe to say he has an interest in you.
But don't rush things. Spend some more time together and see how things are then.
And remember, don't rely on him to set meetings up. You need to put the work in too.
