I've been emailing a guy from a dating site and don't really know whether we are ever going to meet. Do a lot of them just want someone to email? It has also set me thinking about whether I want to meet someone this way, and whether I want to be in a long-distance relationship. Has anyone any advice about this?

A female reader, Sweet-thing United Kingdom +, writes (6 November 2008):

Sweet-thing agony auntAnytime you meet a man (or woman for that matter) on a dating site who seems content to just chat on e-mails without interest of meeting the person they've been chatting with it means one thing: They're already in a relationship, possibly married and they're just looking for a little companionship and fun on the side. If you're looking for more, you mind as well keep looking.
