I would just leave it and let it fade out over time with shampoo- if you use a shampoo with sulfates like sodium laureth sulfate this will fade out your color. Then go to a hairdresser to get back to your blonde if you still don't like it and you don't want to grow it out.

You can use clairol metalex to lighten the color but this will dry your hair out a bit most likely so you need to do an intensive conditioning and don't shampoo too much for a while afterwards. Another thing to do would be to add some highlighting after it fades.

Honeypie agony auntBest thing you can do is go to a GOOD hair salon and have them help you get your original hair color back.

chigirl agony auntI think my worry would be green or orange hair, yes. I suggest you ask a hair dresser this question, and don't do any home treatment. Because you might end up with orange or green hair... which is a lot worse than dark brown.

I think you should wait a few weeks, like the other poster said, and see how the colour changes. Your hair will become a lot lighter very fast if you just use regular shampoo. As your hair was bleached before, the bleached colour will appear again faster. What I mean is that if you dyed your natural hair darker then it'd take some time for the colour to fade. But since your hair was bleached before you dyed it it'll become lighter a lot faster.

I had bleached hair, then dyed it dark brown because the bleached hair looked horrible on me (it was a failed attempt). But the dark brown turned into light brown in a matter of weeks, and a few months later some of the blond bleached hair was back again. So just use regular shampoo and most of the dye will wash out by itself.

A female reader, maverick494 United States +, writes (10 March 2012):

It is possible, but not advisable. You need a volume 40 developer and using that on already heavily processed hair is going to really damage it. You may get orange hair, or in the best case scenario it will be very very yellow. To get rid of that you need an ash toner like for example Manic Panic Virgin snow, and then you can put a blonde dye over it to get the color you want.

This means basically 3 dye jobs and it will turn your hair into dough. Also, because you recently dyed your hair, why not wait it out and let it fade? When I first dyed my hair brown it came out way too dark, but after 4 weeks it had settled into a nice light brown colour that isn't harsh at all.

Even if after that you don't like it your hair will take the dye process to get back to blonde much better than it will now.
