 Upload a few pictures and send him a little message. He can then IF interested check out your profile. He may not have recognized you from your profile alone.

I would message him, what do you have to lose? The main advantage to dating sites is they allow you to be braver and bolder than perhaps you would be in the 'real' world. So take that little mini leap as if you don't ask, you don't get.
