I have great sex with my boyfriend and I love it; I become super wet, horny, and tittilated, but I don't know if I have ever had an orgasm. Is it possible that I have had one and I don't know it?

Your big sis agony auntNo, you've never had one. Believe me, you will know when you do. Your body will shudder in complete overpowering ecstasy usually in about 10 to 20 seconds depending on the intensity. Each orgasm experience is a tiny bit different. Some last 25 seconds, some only 5 seconds. I recommend you to try to bring yourself to orgasm first. Get some visual stimulation and a vibrator. Pleasure yourself, think of the most horny thing you can think of and it will happen. Sex is pleasure, so don't think about it as work or it will be. And who likes work? Just kidding. But really, you will get there. Try it.

A female reader, Bev Conolly Australia +, writes (8 June 2005):

Bev Conolly agony auntNo. Definitely not.

You would certainly know if you've had one. Orgasm doesn't feel like anything else in the human experience, which is why we're genetically programmed to seek it out.

That doesn't mean that you're not enjoying sex. You can be having fun and feeling pleasure and satisfying your boyfriend and feeling closeness and bonding and every other sensation that goes along with the sexual experience. However, orgasm is something you won't overlook if you're having one.

Try masturbating, which is much better at bringing women to climax than sex is. Focus on your clitoris and the area around it. Experiment with what feels nicest, then keep exploring. You might not have an orgasm from masturbation the first, or the second or the tenth time, but keep trying. Read erotic stories, try a vibrator (on the outside, for starters), or try watching a porn video and masturbating. When you finally do have an orgasm, you'll know it. Then you'll have something to aim for during sex.

Good luck.
