I just had my daughter about four months ago and I got my depo provera birth control shot 6 weeks after havign her. Have been bleeding off and on since then. Not a lot just a little, but it is almost every day and I'm worried. Any ideas if something is wrong with me and what it could be? I have no insurance and I don't want to go to the doctor if nothing is wrong.

I'm not in any pain, no cramps or anything I feel great, I'm just worried aboout the constant bleeding.

I have been having the exact same problem for seven months now, after the depo shot wore off the bleeding still did not subside. I was given the Mirena implant, which slowed it but it still has not stopped. If you start feeling anemic, go see your doctor (you should either way) I am very anemic and had to stop breastfeeding because I wasn't producing enough breastmilk thanks to the low amounts of nutrients and estrogyn going out through the blood.

I have been bleeding for 5 months now, I am worried too, I have been feeling very week and run out of breath just walking up the stairs to my apartment. I too got the DEPO 2 days after my daughter was born.. I really cannot afford to go back to the doctor.

A female reader, AskEve United Kingdom +, writes (10 March 2008):

AskEve agony auntRegardless of the type of birth you will bleed from the vagina, because the special lining of the uterus (womb) is no longer needed. The colour should gradually lighten from bright red to pink/brown and by the tenth day it should be a whitish yellow. It should stop entirely after three to four weeks.

Generally about 6 weeks after you have had your baby, your doctor should check that your body has more or less returned to its pre-pregnant state and that any problems are identified. You will be given an opportunity to discuss family planning and the various methods of contraception. Even if you are breastfeeding, you can still get pregnant. If you have not had this check up then you need to make an appointment.

If you have any concerns or worries it is really important that you consult a health professional e.g. your midwife, obstetrician, GP or the nurse at your local Early Childhood Health Centre. Many women encounter difficulties after childbirth so don’t be embarrassed to tell them and like Annalisa said, living in the UK means you will be seen for FREE and get free prescriptions for a year after the baby is born.

Make that appointment today! It might be nothing serious but it will certainly put your mind at rest.

Nothing wrong? You are constantly bleeding, that is wrong. Go see a doctor.

Geez, isn't your baby under medical supervision in england, talk to that while your baby is having its checkup at least.

Something is WRONG. See a doctor. Women do NOT bleed constantly. Small amount, large amount don't matter. It MIGHT be a whacked out cycle, but only a doctor can know for sure. Diagnoses over the net is not possible.
