 If you both once shared a connection then i don't see why there shoulden't be a connection now.
You know he has not got a girlfriend so get back in contact with him, im sure he will be glad to hear from you.

Connections often come from doing a lot of exciting activities together. Anything is possible, but probably the best option is to try to spend as much time with him, and then see if that chemistry is there or whether you like the idea of him more than him
