A male reader, anonymous, writes (2 March 2009):

When a mans sexual performance starts to become an issue it is normal for him to start avoiding intimacy with his partner, this lack of communication in turn leads to resentment which magnifies the relationship problems. This is often due to the majority of men feeling uncomfortable discussing erectile dysfunction largely as we see it as a personal failing rather than a medical problem. Women can and do share sexual health problems readily with their friends and colleagues. In doing so, they will alleviate their own concerns and share solutions.

That is why I am writing about my experience with the Butea Superba herb, not commonly known here in the West. It is grown under government license in the Far East and widely used throughout Asia as a male aphrodisiac. Recent clinical trials on men suffering Erectile Dysfunction resulted in over 80% of those tested experiencing significant improvement in their sexual function. I have been taking Butea in pill form for the last three months with excellent results. More importantly my desire for intimacy has returned and my partner and I enjoy thoroughly fulfilling sex life once more. I do find taking the pills makes me think about sex more often, which has probably increased the frequency of our love making. But neither of us is complaining. I found Butea in pill form on the internet under the brand name HealthyED, see- www.healthyed.co.uk . If you or your partner is suffering with a drop in performance, I strongly recommend this product.

tux agony auntThere are plenty of causes. Some of them have been mentioned, but a major one that a lot of people overlook is the mental aspect of it as well. Correction that has been mentioned under "stress", but if a man is worrying to please the woman too much that could create the stress as well.

Another thing that can cause it is, high blood pressure.. so if the man is suddenly having problems, he should get his blood pressure checked as well.

If you're talking about yourself, well then older men generally have weaker erections, and may have trouble "getting it up" for any number of reasons, including stress, alcohol etc.

Also speak to your doctor about prostate cancer if you haven't already.

Generally, it's only "dysfunction" if it's making you unhappy. Before you go taking pills or any nonsense like that, seriously speak to your doctor and he'll probably give you better advice!
