A female Indonesia age 51-59, *heers writes:

Is it TRUE that eating tofu and peanuts(sorts of nuts)can lead to Gout in long term? Recently an elderly warns me about it. It scares me

I eat tofu, tempeh daily with brown rice(vegetarian).i don't really like mock meats and prefer all kinds of vege. I mostly eat outside due to work commitments.

Is it a myth only? Should i be wary? should i change my diet? Thanks alot for feedbacks

A female reader, CindyCares Italy +, writes (15 September 2011):

CindyCares agony aunt It's the opposite, gout is caused by over production or underelimination of uric acid , and food rich in purines are helpful in eliminating uric acid ,therefore fighting the joint inflamation of gout. Tofu and nuts are high in purine content.
