A female age 30-35, anonymous writes:

i have an autistic younger sister.

i was happy livng by myself i went to uni, but have finished for summer.

my sister has outbursts, is an emotional drunk when she goes out and when she comes home if she comes home she tells me im a bad sister i don't understand so theres no ponit talking to me its hard. considerng she got stuck in town last week at 2am , a two hour walk from home and i rang payed for her taxi as as she lost her card.

i told my mum im getting a little tired of being nice to her doing favours for her waiting till 4 am for her i work too so it makes me tired when i go work on weekends whhich is when she goes out. because she never appreciates it.

i asked my my mum in the future where would my sister live and came to terms that she might have to live with me and my boyfriend. but my mum said she and my dad have planned that and she will be in a home for disabled people where she earns a bit of her own money and amongst others with disabled problems and i must avoid guilt because we will as her family always feel guilty.

i have less patience then my other family members my dad is autisitc too so it makes it difficult at times.

i just want some help or tips from an outsiders point. general about dealing with autisitc family members and also how to try and calm my anger when i feel like i want to shout at them.

Well, show her how you feel possibly... That's what I do with my sister, although she's not autistic. But still, sit down and try to be eachother for a little, that way she'll see how you see her and you'll see how she sees you!
