A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Hi im wondering if there are any females out there who's partners are in the army / navy and have to spend long periods of time apart. I have come into a new relationship with a guy in the navy who will be away for long periods and if anybody has some tips they would like to share with me of how they have handled this and success stories that would be great. My boyfriend is a submariner so is basically trapped under the sea for long periods of time so infidelity isnt really a worry to me and to be honest if he strays then its over. I have never been this sort of situation before and want to give it a go cause he is a lovely guy.

Thanks xx

confused3473 agony auntHi there

My bf is in the army and up till now the longest he has been away for is about 8 weeks Next year he goes on tour and will be away for 9 months

Everyone says keep yourself busy but i know thats easier said than done because its natural for you to worry

If you live near his base try to make friends with some other wives and gf so you have people who are going through the same thing as you

There is no easy way to get through it Tho once he has been gone a while you kinda climatise to it and although you will think about him lots you will find your able to get on with life

My bf says its easier for him being out there then the people left behind THey are busy doing the job and are surrounded by people in the same boat

If you wanna send me a PM feel free
