writes:I'm due my period on the 9th. But i'm currently getting a very dark brown/black discharge coming out of me like a thin period. I've never had this sort of thing before, only AFTER a period, never before. What could this be?I had unprotected sex a couple of days before my last period (period came after). and i took the morning after pill 5 hours after the sex. I googled the discharge question but i got a lot of posts asking if they were pregnant.I'm wanting to go on the contraceptive pill and it says i need to start it on the first day of my period. Does this black stuff count? should i take it now or wait until it goes red? Is the black stuff normal?

 That color usually just means blood that's been in your uterus for awhile, usually no biggie, but if you are worried and feel the need to go get it checked, by all means do! It shouldn't be a side affect of the morning after pill, and for your contraceptive if you are due the 9th, take it the first day you are regular.
