Best friends since babyhood... how do I shift things to a deeper level?

A female Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Dear Cupid

Ive been best friends with this guy ever since we were babies. His mother and my mother are like total best friends. I heard many times from them we should be dating or that we'll end up together. My feelings for him are growing and Im trying my best not to make it obvious. I certainly dont want to just walk up to him and tell him about my feelings and ask him if he has the same feelings. I just want to know how to study him and notice any possible actions that might tell me that he is intrested in me.

A female reader, Entirely Unique United Kingdom +, writes (22 March 2010):

Entirely Unique agony auntIts a hard thing to do as some people show how they feel in different ways you'll also find some people are really easy to read and some are so closed off you never can tell.

I would probably try to test the water if you don't want to just openly talk about it with him.
