B/f has alot of female friends and I feel uneasy about his talking/texting/lying about it

my boyfriend and I have been together for a 1 1/2 yrs and my problem is he has alot of female friends that he went to college with and still talks to and text they all live out of state and that is not a problem the problem is there is one that he knows thru another friend and she lives here where we do and they go for mths without textin or talking then it starts up again and its been going on for about a month now and they text and talk while he's at work or sometimes she will call when he's home and he will talk she knows about me but I feel they talk way to long and he will sometimes lie and say he hasn't talk to her and we share the same phone plan so i can see when and how many times they talk and how long he says they are only friends but why do friends need to talk and text that much all day. He tells me he loves me and wants to marry me and he knows how i feel about him and he knows how I feel about him always on the phone how do I get him to stop all the phone calls and text or do you think there is more to it than just friends.
