Are we broken up or is he just angry with me?

my boyfriend and i got into a huge argument a few days ago and well we broke up he is being totally contradictory in his statements.... he will not tell me that he does not love me or that he doesnt want to be with me and i asked him are we single he says i guess so! so what i want to know is what should i think... are we broken up since he wont tell me that its over or is he still angry with me and just wants to hurt me because i hurt him?
