Are these signs that my mother is gay?

Question - (5 January 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 5 January 2010)
A male United States age 26-29, *olfsbane writes:

There are some rumors going around our town that my mother is gay. She dismisses these rumors, but the entire town, including her parents and me believe she is. She won't go anywhere unless her "friend" goes with her, and its always the same person. When my stepdad is in, she won't even stay at the house and goes down to her friends house, sometimes for three to four days. She actually left me at home when my grandparents were in Maryland, and my stepdad driving truck, she left me for five hours alone while she went to her friends. She makes up excuses to go there, like she has to go to the store, and other things. After school when she comes and picks me up, she will her friends house, leaving me in the car sometimes for an hour, locking the doors and telling me not to go into the house for my life.

Are these signs that shes gay? This has been going on for at least two years, everyday even when it is snowing bad outside. Please give me some help here!

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (5 January 2010):

Well to be leaving you in the car by yourself for hours, locking the doors and not going into the house suggests there is something going on. Maybe she is gay, maybe she's not. Her actions are suspicious though. But she is also your mum, so just love her for that. I think you need to talk to her about how she's treating you, because she's being a bit unfair leaving you in the snow. Try talking to her about why she doest that, and ask if she couldn't do that. If she is gay, will it matter?
