Hi all,

I have found out I am pregant but I am terrified about getting stretch marks. Can anyone suggest anything that actually WORKS that I can use to prevent this? I know people will prob slate me saying I am vain and its the last thing I should be thinking about and joys of motherhood etc etc but I have worked as a model my whole life so my career is based upon my looks and I do enjoy my career and hopefully want to go back to it after having a child. So help would be much appreciated.

Also does the skin on the tummy go loose and stay saggy wrinkley after giving birth? And anything to do to prevent that or assist it?

I know alot of people like to leave comments about there is nothing you can do to avoid it and just love and accept yourself etc etc etc. But I am not wanting to hear that sort of advice as it truly doesnt help me in anyway - so looking for ONLY useful advice that could help me.

Thanks

Whether or not you get stretch marks depends on genetics, how much weight you can, and where you gain it. If your mother had them, so will you.

No cream or lotion can prevent stretch marks. My doctor told me this and he even said that a female ob colleague knew this, but used cocoa butter in vain. But at least if you use them, your skin will be soft.

Every body is different-- some women have several kids and retain a flat belly after, others' muscles irrevocably stretch out, something that can only be corrected surgically.

So eat right, work out, and hope for the best.

My sis used cocoa butter twice a day from the start of her pregnancy and she did not get 1 stretch mark or any sagginess of her belly. I on the other hand got a lot of stretch marks and my stomach skin is now saggy, loose and there is a ledge of loose skin that hangs down..all I can say is my sister's babies didn't get as big as mine and she worked out all throughout her pregnancy & I didn't. Just watch what you eat, and still do some light exercize and use the cocoa butter and you'll be o.k.

eyeswideopen agony auntSome women don't get any ever, some women can benefit by using lotions and avoid them, but some women get them whether they religiously apply lotions and oils or not. It just depends on your skin type, how you carry the baby, and how big you get. You've got nothing to lose by applying the oils and lotions so go ahead and slather them on. As far as saggy skin goes the same conditions apply. I did hear that nursing the baby can cause your tummy to shrink a little faster. Congrats on the new baby, they sure are worth it all!

as for your tummy it might get lose it depends , during the last months of your pregnancy you have to walk a lot , it makes it easier for you when you deliver the baby and it helps your body to get back as it was , but after you have your baby it wouldnt get back like it was 100% , so you have to excersice , the walking will help a lot ..

daniellexxxx agony auntWhen i was pregnant i used baby oil and i got no stretch marks on my belly, but i only put it on my belly so durr i got them on my boobs and legs. So i did work but for some people it might not for me it did. but as soon as you have found out you should be useing it every day 2ce a day after a shower or a bath before bed.

And i never got a saggy belly but that all depends on how big you are and get to how fast you loose your baby weight.

If you get sagg try go to the gymm 2ce a week or more if possible yo should loose the weight straigh away and eat healthy.

Hope it's helped. Good luck. x
