Hey guys, I was hoping on getting some tips from you guys, well I've been trying to tone up for the past year, doing regular excercise and sit ups every day and eating healthy and frequently, I am of a medium build and 5'6, overall I have toned up, however my stomach is still huge and bloated if not bigger than when I first started toning up.

I think it's due to water retention, because when I do my sit ups I can feel the water inside it...

Any tips on how to get rid of water retention in the stomach?

thanks x

blawndie agony auntwhat types of things are you eating? because sodium causes you to retain a lot of water. cut down on sodium foods such as chips, sandwich meats, etc.. this causes bloatedness, also, if you're chewing gum that has sorbitol in it, that could be the culprit. just keep close tabs on your sodium intake.

goodluck!

ArmyMedic agony auntAre you sure your stomach is bloated? It is very easy to become a little obsessive when it comes to toning up. What have your friends/family said? Being in the forces, a lot of my soldiers get on fitness sprees when we are on tour and many of them go over the top when it comes to training.

There isn't much you can do for water retention, if that's the cause of the problem.

I think you are better off talking to a Doctor/dietitian/personal trainer as they can see you and make an assessment of what is causing this "Bloating"

I would steer well clear of the many powders and tablets that advertise a "safe and legal" ways of toning up, as normally they are neither safe or legal.
