 I would say "Have fun." and hang up the phone, but that's me, and I don't think that's the response you were looking for.
Just tell him that he was the one who wanted space, and that you were sticking to his plan, so ask him what his problem is.
Sounds like he thinks that your life should revolve around him. Oh boy, is he in for a surprise!
