writes:I had a one night stand with a man 3 years ago,we kept in contact perhaps three times a year since, with him just coming back to my place to stay , but no sex ,This year we met up and have been on holiday abroad 3 times we stay at each others houses and enjoy the company , however I am mad about him , but he says he just loves the fun , we only had sex once and this was on this last holiday ,and he laughed and made me feel awful ,i decided that I would not see him again as he has said nothing will come from us , but when i told him he is begging me to see him and do all the things we do together and we can just still be great friends ,he told me on this last holiday I was beautiful that he had been faithfull to me and that he will treat me better , he has told his friends about me and says we are great friends , am I right to be confused ? I will miss him ,but I cant waste my life waiting for him we are in our forties

 All I can suggest is that this does not sound like an enduring relationship, albeit apparently enjoyable. You likely must decide if this kind of arrangement is what you seek long term, because mature adults rarely change their ways.
