reader, anonymous, writes (18 March 2007): ok dude, try and get one thing if you want to get to know her, and thats her instant messenger address (just ask for her msn) and then try and click with her on a few things, maybe you could arrange a personal meet with just you n her, but its up to you, but rule number one is: never ask in front of her friends! if you ask her out in front of mates she will be peer pressured into rejecting you. i know this from experience, so arrange a personal meet, and ask her then. but like i said its your choice.

 You're not meant to say anything in particular. In other words you need to try to say something amusing / funny etc. Not easy. The best thing to do is to get her talking... try asking some questions about her that give her the chance to tell you about herself. The more talking she is doing and the more listening you are doing the better.

But seriously, she just likes hanging out with her friends. You're going to have to get up the nerve to talk to her with her friends around. Now that is hard! But if you do it she'll be very impressed, and girls love a confident guy. Remember that just by having the guts to go up to her and talk to her, you will be half of the way there. And the other half, namely whether she fancies you or not, is out of your control anyway. What do you have to lose?
