I'm really confused. Yesterday he asked me what I was doing this evening and said he loved me. Today he rung saying he had to work late. I rung at 8 and he was still at work but said he'd probably go out for a drink once he'd finished!!

I haven't heard from him since, rung at 11 and no reply!

Does he care about me at all? Is he just fooling me? Is this a relationship???

A male reader, anonymous, writes (27 October 2005):

He probably drank too much, was in a foul mood when he woke, and hasn't called you because he doesn't want to talk to you until he is feeling better. Cut him some slack. Working late throws most people off their paces. I can't tell you if he is fooling with you or not. You haven't given us enough information. When a man or woman tells you they are working late, and when you call them at work, they answer, they have been at least honest to you. When he said he would be going out for a drink, trust him that he did. Relationships are about communication, first, always, and last. Talk to him when you can. Tell him how confused you are and ask him to talk about how feels about you. Tell him how much you missed the opportunity to see him after work, even if he would have gotten home late. It that is the truth, he will appreciate the candor, and maybe open up and talk to you about his feelings. Then you can go from there.
