My boyfriend broke up because "we're at different stages in our lives"...

A female , anonymous writes:

Me (18) and my boyfriend (23) broke up a couple of days ago. We were together for a year, our relashionship was a happy one and we love each other deeply. Reason for bringing up the subject of "breaking up" was that he finally wants to pursue a music career and move to London.(Which he has talked about before)

If that did not work out, then travelling around the world was his other option. He says we have come to different stages in our lives. I'm currently at college but don't have a job at the moment. I brought up the idea of still being able to vist him but he said it wouldn't be the same and too expensive. I feel he has given up on our relashionship and I feel like I am being sacrificed, Though he still wants to keep in contact with me.

How can he do this to me?

Please Please help!

Recovering from a break-up isn't easy. To help you deal with your grief, combat sadness, and boost self-esteem, try:

talking about how you feel with family and friends

taking good care of yourself physically — getting plenty of rest, eating healthy, and exercising

staying busy

doing things you enjoy

Sometimes, though, even when people are really trying to feel better, they may need some extra help recovering from a break-up. Talking to a counselor or other mental health professional can help them sort through their feelings and begin to feel better.

He is trying to break up with you as gently as he can. YOu obviously do not get it. I am sorry for you, and for the hurt you are feeling. Your priority is to finish your education. He has other plans. He can't stay near you and pursue them. He is being terribly realistic, and he is going to miss you. That is why he wants to still keep in touch. He is making a big decision in his life, and part of the pain he is going to take on to further his music career, is not being with you. Back burner him. If you want to see him when he contacts you, fine. If not, fine. Its your call. There are other men out there who will appreciate you. Move on.
