writes:I've not been with this girl long, things were ok, when we are together we get on great but then she will send me texts saying she is very scared of being hurt as she has been in her past and as a defense she now sometimes hurts people first. I really like her but dont want to be hurt my self. i dont know if she is telling me this up front to see if i stick around do i take the chance?

reader, anonymous, writes (14 November 2010): depends what she means by hurt. does she mean physically hurt you or simply mess you about? you need to talk to her about this. tell her you're just as scared of being hurt and that you'll be there for her. but you also expect the same respect that she wants.
