I live in Saskatoon, Sask. and am unmarried, and 5 months pregnant. The father is still around but we are no longer together as a couple. I want the baby to have my last name but he wants it is, I heard that if we can't agree the baby's name will be hyphenated but I've always been against that. I know it's not true in the states, but is that the truth in Canada??

PS Yes im sure he's the father

Well, there are a lot of ways this can work. Whats wrong with haveing a hyphenated last name? It shows that the baby comes from two differnt famiies and represents both of them!

Secondly, you can always use your or the fathers last name as a middle name, or even a first name... think about names like Maddison, Jackson, Makayla, etc.. they all used to be last names and make really nice first names!

I dont actually know what the legal aspects to this are... but there are jsut some ideas!
