Being in a relationship with someone is easy, if it is this hard then there is obviously a problem. In my extensive experience if a guy is being shady then he's being a coward and can't tell you exactly what he's thinking. Sit him down if you can and find out exactly what the problem is, if he can't answer you then he's playing games, no one needs that, relationships are hard enough without one half making it difficult. You seem to have done all the running too, back off if need be and see if he comes back, if not then as hard as it is walk away. Good luck
