writes: Why is being a 24 year old virgin rare? Is it a bad thing or a good thing? I'm almost 25. I'm a catholic. I'm saving myself (in a way). I think? I don't have kids yet. However, I have two cousins and a close family friend with kids and a family before 21. Well, maybe not the family part, but the children, yes.

Good luck! God will thank you in the end. He'll be happy you waited and you respected yourself enough. Also, the part about being a single parent raising a child also did me in as well. :P

 I don't think it's that rare, I just think it's not that popular among the media. I'm 15 and I want to be a virgin all the way until I'm married. Most of my friends feel that way as well, even some of the not so religious ones. Personally I think virginity is beautiful thing. I mean sometimes it saddens me to think of and hear about all the the girls and guys who took it for granted and payed the price just for a few minutes or seconds of physical pleasure. My reasons for saving myself vary from my spiritual beliefs to the plain old fact I don't want to have to raise a kid by myself as one of my close family members is doing. So to get back to the point it's not really so rare to be a virgin other cultures (japanese, chinese, middle easterners) hold virginity at a high standard. However in America it's one of the things that some people don't hold high regard for. Don't rush to let someone pull your v-card, sex has nothing to do with age.

reader, anonymous, writes (23 January 2009): Its definately not a bad thing, and even though it easier said then done, your shouldnt compare yourself to your cousins and friends as you have different lives and different circumstances.
Most people loose their virginity in their teenage years, which is the main time of experimenting, promiscuity and openness to risk taking.
But as they mature so late teens/early twenties the experiementing decreases as morals start to lead, and in doing so many longterm serious relationships are formed.
However this is not to say that you arent normal.
Im sure they are quite a lot of virgins out there, and you should be proud!
To overcome puberty and sexual urges that most humans experience is a mature appearance, and is appealing to many women!
Especially will make it worthwile on your wedding night, or to whoever your lucky lady will be. To know that she is the only one youve been that intimate with, is something incredibly special and will make the experience that more exciting!
I hope you find love, but dont pressure yourself,losing your virginity isnt to do with age, its to do with the measurement of your feelings towards another. and i hope you enjoy the experience!
