Why is he lying about going out with me if we're just friends?

Question - (6 November 2008) 1 Answers - (Newest, 7 November 2008)
A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

Hey there, I have a slight problem: A friend of a friend has asked me to go out with him tomorrow night. I presume this means as friends (he already had a long distance gf), and we will only ever be friends.

But, the guy in question hasn't told our friend. The only reason our friend knows is because I told him. He said hes going out with some mates for a birthday - so my question is: Why is he lying about going out with me? Does he think this is a date? I'm very confused, any suggestions out there?? Thank you!!

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (7 November 2008):

Go out with your friend and just treat him as a friend.

If he makes a move then slap him and go home.

If he treats you as a mate then just mention that you were speaking to your other friend and ask why he lied.

Good Luck!! xx
