Why do I freak out my ex?

Hey, i was in town the other week and bumped into my ex who dumped me after a 2 month break she initiated. When i saw her she crossed the street to talk to me.

We chatted for a while and i suggested we go for a coffee. We were walking to the cafe and all of a sudden she said "I'm not comfortable with this."

I said "ok" and walked away. For some mad reason i rang a few mins later and said "sorry if i freaked you out."

And she replied in a less than friendly tone "well you did."

This whole conversation kind of threw me as i was kind of hoping to say bye properly to this woman and part of me hopes to reconcile in the future.

A reader, anonymous, writes (3 July 2009):

It could be that she chatted out of politeness, and then agreed to go for a coffee. Then she might have decided that it wasn't such a good idea after all, and acted weirdly to get away.

It does sound strange though, for her to cross the road to talk to you, then get a bit unpleasant on the phone. I wouldn't blame yourself though, she obviously has some issues to sort out at the moment. I would advise not trying to contact her for a while while she is being like this. x

Hey maybe you should ask her. Sounds to me like she doesn't want to be with you. She broke up with you once already, and now she is telling you she is not comfortable talking with you. So, maybe you shouldn't ask her. Maybe she has already been quite clear.
