A female reader, anonymous, writes (4 February 2008):

Theres nothing 'wrong' with you, this is something alot of girls go through. Most of my friends would not be able to admit they had boyfriends to their parents, or had alot of trouble doing so.

I myself had trouble with this one. Im close to my mom but i never really talked to her about guys or anything. Then i began seeing this guy but was scared as how to tell her. All 3 of my older siblings were in a relationship yet i still found it hard to do.

I found the best way to do it was to subtly give hints in conversations, to make her understand that i was begining to like guys, and find them attractive. For example, if we were talking about a film, i would say something like "Oh yeh, that guy was really good looking" ect. I think my mom must of worked out tht i was starting to get intested in guys, and she asked "are there any guys you like at school then?" and i replied "Yeh, theres this one guy who i like" and then a few days later i told him that he asked me out:) She told my dad so everything was fine=]

Good Luck!

It was hard to do, but definatly worth it!

Somethingeasy agony auntNothing, you probally know how your parents will act. Just cause you have a mate doesnt mean that you have to do what your friends do with their mates.
