They are important even if you arent sexually active. Its a test to make sure you don't get cervical cancer. I'm not a girl, so I cant relate... but I here its awkward, and you just have to get through it.

hi... i take it your based in england, if so smear tests are only available every 3yrs on the nhs, you shud start having them when you become sexually active,please remember your priority by usen contraception and if you visit your doct/health centre with regards to this they will advise you when to have your first smear, they may not be pleasant to have hun but for 5 mins of slight discomfort could save your life...x.x

You should have them every year. I started when I was your age. You should have them even if you're not sexually active.
