 It depends on the guy, but smiles, staring, flirty conversation. All these are signals he likes you.
Body language can be an indicator too. Does he approach you? Does he mimic what you're doing without realizing it? What I mean is, if you touch your ear, does he do it too? Stuff like that is a good indication of interest. It can also be fun to play with.
The biggest signal though is when he asks you out or says yes when you ask him out. That's the surest way to know, and the most efficient.

 If the guy has not told you that he likes you too then I am sorry but the likely hood of it is, is that he is not that interested. There is this book that I have read called 'he's just not that into you' and it is amazing I would say it is worth a read. It will defiantly put guys into perspective for you a bit more.
