 Toxic behavior is the kind that makes you profoundly unhappy while being unwilling to leave.
Things like a guy who stays with a physically abusive woman because he's ashamed that she hurts him, or a woman who stays with a cheating guy because she thinks he doesn't mean it. A girl who gets pregnant without consulting her man, and he stays for the kid, or a guy who belittles a woman until she thinks he's doing her a favor by dating her.
Even strong people can fall for this stuff if they let their guard down, especially in a moment of loneliness.

 Any behavior that isn't normal or healthy for a sustainable relationship really... Off the top of my head- somebody who emotionally blackmails, is physically abusive, has double standards etc. could be considered toxic.
